Anna Moschovakis, poet, novelist and translator, joins us as the new Poet-in-Residence in the University at Albany English Department.

 

With French Senegalese novelist David Diop, she shared the 2021 International Booker Prize for her translation of Diop’s novel, At Night All Blood Is Black, about the experiences of French African troops amid the carnage of World War I.

Her most recent book, published in 2024, is the dystopian literary novel An Earthquake Is a Shaking of the Surface of the Earth.

Her poetry collections include You and Three Others Are Approaching a Lake (2011), winner of the James Laughlin Award of the Academy of American Poets; and They and We Will Get into Trouble for This (2016), named a best book of the year by The New Yorker.

 

Moschovakis will present selections of her own work, as well as work by UAlbany students and NYSWI Community Workshop poets.
