A message from Paul Grondahl in advance of our Albany Film Festival

Dear Friends of the Writers Institute:

We are thrilled to be able to present the 2nd annual New York State Writers Institute Albany Film Festival on Saturday, April 2. It will run from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. on the University at Albany uptown campus.

We hope you will attend and enjoy a full day of film premieres, juried short films, and exciting conversations with acclaimed filmmakers. The event will conclude with a ceremony presenting the Ironweed Awards and winners of the short film competition.

Our niche is a “bookish” film festival that celebrates storytelling on film and focuses on adaptations of novels and stories into films; movies filmed in the Capital Region; and the art of screenwriting in cinema.

You can find the lineup and full schedule at our Albany Film Festival website: www.albanyfilmfestival.org/

Another unique aspect of our film festival is that we present it all free and open to the public. You must pay significant fees at other film festivals. There is no charge for ours.

That is why I am writing to ask for your financial support for the Albany Film Festival. It is a costly undertaking to present a large community-wide event like this. We are grateful for our generous sponsors, but we need additional assistance. If you wish to make a gift, we appreciate your donation, regardless of the amount.

This is an opportune time to donate, as each gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by PepsiCo. Now through March 31, the #UAlbanyMarchMatchness challenge will double the impact of your donation. Your contribution will support the Albany Film Festival and Writers Institute programming, as well as scholarships for UAlbany students.

Please consider making your gift today. It’s easy to give online. Here's the link.

If you prefer to donate by check, make the check payable to The University at Albany Foundation (please write Writers Institute/Film Festival in the memo line). Mail your check to:

The UAlbany Foundation

PO Box 761

Albany, NY 12201

We appreciate all you do to continue to support us as we take the Writers Institute to new heights.

Thank you,

Paul Grondahl
