Less than 24 hours after hosting Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Adam Johnson for events at the University at Albany, our Writers Institute team was on the road this morning with author Tami Charles.
Following the morning visit to the KIPP Tech Valley Primary School in Albany, Opalka Endowed Director Paul Grondahl said "Tami is super nice and a wonderful presenter" and Assistant Director Mark Koplik called the visit was a "fantastic event... Kids were wonderful." They're now with Tami at the KIPP Albany Community Charter Elementary School.
At each school, the children received a free, signed copy of Tami's new book Together, United.
For many kids, this was their first time meeting a published author, a moment that could spark a lifelong passion for reading and writing. Imagine the stories that might begin today.
Join us later today for a public event with Tami Charles.
