Earlier this year, the short film "Anomaly" made waves at the 2025 Albany Film Festival, taking home both Best Dramatic Short and Best Overall Short Film, a double win that cemented its place as one of the Capital Region’s standout cinematic achievements.
In the 15-minute film short, written and directed by Ryan Jenkins, a magician's final performances feature an illusion so impossible, it catches the attention of a government agent who becomes obsessed with figuring it out. (Watch the trailer below.)
"Anomaly's" producer Spencer Sherry shared news today that the film will make its television premiere at 11 p.m. Friday, July 18. Earlier that same day, at 7 p.m., "Anomaly" will be screened at the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany.
Admission to the Spectrum screening is free but seating is limited. Reserve your seats via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/anomalys-television-debut-party-tickets-1446934352599
Jenkins, producer Spencer Sherry, actor John Romeo, and others from the production plan to attend the Spectrum screening.
"This will be our personal debut at the theater that we spent our formative years in the Capital Region patronizing," said Sherry. "Its importance to us cannot be overstated, and we’re unbelievably excited and grateful to be given this opportunity to bring our work to its screen."
After the WMHT broadcast, Anomaly will also be available for streaming on the station’s website, marking the first time the film will be accessible to the public online.
What's next for Spencer and Jenkins? "We are in post-production for our next film: a spanish-language folk horror titled “Las Hadas de la Sombra”, with Ryan writing and directing and me producing and editing," said Spencer.
