Donate to the Dr. Alice P. Green Memorial Fund

Alice Green and Paul Grondahl

Join us as we pay tribute to the life and legacy of author and advocate Alice Green

4 p.m. Sunday, September 29

Palace Theatre 19 Clinton Avenue Albany NY 12207

Doors open at 3 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Many people have asked how they can honor the life and legacy of the late Dr. Alice P. Green, who passed away suddenly on August 20, 2024. What action can we take to carry on her singular mission in life to fight injustice wherever she found it?

The many lives Alice touched and the communities she inspired are grieving. We yearn to take up her commitment to civil rights, social justice, racial equality, police reform, re-entry for formerly incarcerated people, and assisting the poor. In all her work, she gave voice to the voiceless and hope to those who felt hopeless.

The simplest and most direct way is to donate to the three organizations that Alice founded, fostered, supported, and devoted herself to sustaining over many years. In consultation with Alice’s husband, philanthropist Charles Touhey, these are the three organizations that both held close to their hearts.

They are:

  • The Center for Law and Justice

  • The Alice Moore Black Arts and Cultural Center

  • The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at the University at Albany

With the support of Charles Touhey, a special Dr. Alice P. Green Memorial Fund has been set up by the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region to accept donations. All gifts are being received, logged and overseen by the Community Foundation under their strict charitable giving guidelines. The total amount of money raised will be equally divided between the three named entities.

As we continue to strive to live up to Alice’s ideals and to continue her selfless life of service, take a moment to consider a donation. It is simple. It is meaningful. It is tangible. You will be making a statement: Rest in Power Dr. Alice P. Green.

Thank you,

Paul Grondahl
