"March On!" with Lucy and Grace Lang

In this new #indiebookstoreboost post, WAMC Northeast Public Radio's Joe Donahue and NYS Writers Institute Director Paul Grondahl talk with sisters Lucy Lang, below left, and Grace Lang, below right, about their new book March On!

March On! celebrates the history of American women's suffrage and the iconic 1915 New York City women's march, as told in rhyme by a grandmother to her granddaughter at bedtime.

All proceeds from sales will be donated to Fair Fight, an organization working to ensure a fair and free election in November 2020. For more information about the Lang Sisters and their new collaboration, visit www.marchonny.com

What is this #indiebookstoreboost hashtag?

The coronavirus pandemic has forced indie bookstores, like other small businesses, to shut down for the past two months. They are now in dire financial straits. Sales have plummeted, despite online orders. Proprietors have been forced to furlough staff, to apply for bailout funds, and to seek desperate measures to stay alive. They are struggling mightily to remain in business. They need our help.

The NYS Writers Institute and WAMC Northeast Public Radio are joining forces to assist the Capital Region’s indie bookstores with a new initiative we’re calling #IndieBookstoreBoost. Our goal with #IndieBookstoreBoost is to encourage book sales and to increase revenue during this do-or-die moment for these vital community centers.

We encourage you to purchase March On! at the I Love Books store in Delmar, NY. You can reach the store on Facebook at facebook.com/Ilovebooksdelmar, via email at ilovebooksdelmar@gmail.com, or phone at (518) 478-0715.
