A Giving Tuesday message from Paul Grondahl

On this Giving Tuesday across the University at Albany and far beyond, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you for being part of the Writers Institute community and helping us carry on through this terrible pandemic. We are grateful that you have stayed connected to us, which is more important than ever as we pivoted to virtual presentations and online programming.

We know there are great needs at this time and that you have many options for sharing your generosity. If you choose to donate to the Writers Institute, we will use your gift to create more acclaimed programming. We will organize major community-wide events including the Albany Book Festival and Albany Film Festival; wide-ranging collaborations such as The Time for Reckoning symposium on systemic racism; and special programs like Telling the Truth 2020.

We will continue to host scintillating conversations with a diverse range of brilliant writers and authentic voices, such as recent guests Natalie Portman and Gregory Maguire; Abby Wambach and Glennon Doyle; Amy Chua; Elif Shafak; Noam Chomsky; John Lithgow; and former New York Governor George Pataki.

Your donation will help us continue to build a community of writers and readers engaged in meaningful conversation as we discuss challenging topics while searching for common ground – always mindful of treating each other with respect and civility.

Thank you for considering a GivingTuesday gift to the Writers Institute.
